Transmission Networks

Method by which power plants deliver generated
electricity to their customers. Utility companies
transmit electrical power at high voltage levels,
sometimes as high as 750,000 volts (750kV)
because it is less expensive. Power transmitted
at high voltage has lower current, and lower
current permits the use of a smaller conductor
or wire. Operating voltages used in resident,
commercial and industrial settings are between
120 volts and 600 volts.
